Alisha's Ride

Alisha was 5 years old when I first took her to the local kart track which she enjoyed but did not want to take it any further. It would be 4 years later when she would sit in a kart again.

She was 9 when we went back to the same track and she competed against some boys and won. This gave her the confidence she needed to take this sport further. We decided to go to the more serious outdoor kart track called Hooton Park near Liverpool where Alisha lives and she had a go in a kart. She enjoyed it very much I had to buy her a kart for her to race properly.

2 months later after many test days Alisha was ready for her first race and on the way to track she was so nervous she wasn’t sure if to race. She did anyway and came 19th out of 35 boys which was a great result for her first novice race and she was the only girl. She continued to race for the next 8 months improving every race. She then joined a race team called Energy and was not fazed being the only girl in the team.

Around this time Alice Powell a forma F3 driver approached us to ask if Alisha would race in her all girl race team in Formula Kart stars (maybe you look at what this is and add info) this was 2015 season.

We agreed and it was amazing all the races was on Sky Sports F1 channel and Alisha got to meet a lot of new drivers. Alisha was also taught to learn the data side of racing which she really enjoyed and made her faster in the races. She was taught so much from Alice Powell who was a great coach with so much racing experience.

One of the highlights of the year was Alice arranged an interview on the F1 show live on the grid at the F1 Silverstone weekend where Alisha was intervened in front of 5000 in the stands. She was standing on the grid with all the F1 drivers and was star struck!

Late last year we joined a new race team called AIM racing and this is one of the best kart teams around and again Alisha is the only girl in the team. Making this move has brought Alisha on as driver a most of the other drivers in the team are champions in the UK and Alisha is feeding off them.

This year Alisha is about to start her race season and is competing in Super1 the most competitive kart leagues in the world.
